Announcement: Unveiling of Historic Tactile Model at Goliad State Park

Mission Espíritu Santo and surrounding grounds at Goliad State Park and Historic Site

Goliad State Park is proud to bring a new element of enjoyment to Mission Espiritu Santo—a tactile model of the mission compound cast in bronze, designed to be felt by visitors to give a better understanding of the mission grounds, especially for those who are blind, deafblind, or have low vision. Visitors can now experience the historic mission through touch!

Texas Parks and Wildlife (TPWD) announces the unveiling of this bronze tactile model of the mission compound in a ceremony at Goliad State Park and Historic Site on March 14, 2026. Details about this ceremony are described in the attached flyer. This six-year project is the result of the collaboration and commitment of multiple stakeholders dedicated to ensuring accessibility for all visitors, including those who are blind, deafblind, or have low vision. The Fall 2026 issue of TX SenseAbilities looks forward to sharing more exciting information about this project and the role of TPWD and the mission collaborators.
