The articles in this special edition will not only introduce you to this Family Engagement Report, but they will also provide information on important definitions, the experiences of families of children with disabilities, and will end with some of the initiatives happening in Texas. In subsequent editions of TX SenseAbilities, the Family Wisdom section will focus on each of the priorities in the Report. Elevating the family voice and valuing family stories are at the heart of what TX SenseAbilities seeks to share.
While there are parts of the report that are unique to families with children and adults who are deafblind, we know that all families who have children with disabilities follow similar journeys. We are especially motivated by the report’s emphasis on “visioning” because it illuminates the issues, needs and priorities of all children with disabilities. We are all in this together. When the report says “all”, it means ALL!
