One-week programs June 21- 26 and June 28- July 3 (ages 12-22)

This year the Secondary Enrichment (SE) program will offer six classes of eight students. Each class will infuse instruction from the expanded core curriculum into activities designed to build friendships, strengthen self-advocacy and self-reliance all while having fun at TSBVI. In an attempt to serve as many students as possible, we are not listing interest-based classes (such as Rock Band or Theater) as in years past. If enough students list a particular topic as an interest, we may be able to create a specific class such as Rock Band. Please contact Sara Merrit, Short-Term Programs Principal at 512-206-9176 or if you have questions about our summer program this year.

Who Can Attend:

SE classes are for middle or high school students with visual impairments who meet these criteria:

  • 12 years of age or older, up through the summer after their high school graduation.
  • Able to participate well in group activities, with limited one-on-one assistance.
  • Moderately to largely independent in areas such as eating, dressing, personal hygiene, communication, and mobility.
  • Have no behaviors that interfere with the instruction of self or others.
  • Can attend the full length of the class to which they are admitted.

Secondary students who function four or more grade levels below their age expectation should apply for the Practical Experiences in Expanded Core (PEEC).
