For students in grades 6 - 7 during the 2017-2018 school year

June 10 - 15 or June 17 - 28

Middle School Enrichment classes are for the youngest students in Secondary Enrichment. These classes have a new theme each summer, and they are always fun (and skill-building). You may select either a one-week or a two-week class.

Sample activities from recent summers include visiting museums, riding the Amtrak train, trying to drop raw eggs down a stairwell without breaking them, creating art, and cooking pizzas from scratch. Built into these activities are opportunities to learn and practice skills from the Expanded Core Curriculum for students with visual impairments including technology, orientation and mobility, social skills, and independent living skills. An invaluable part of the program is the opportunity to spend time with other students with visual impairments, who share similar public school experiences.

These classes are taught by highly experienced Teachers of Students with Visual Impairments who love working with this age group!

Note: These Secondary Enrichment "Middle School Enrichment" classes have a different purpose from the "Transition to Middle School" class offered in our Elementary Summer Enrichment programs. The elementary Transition to Middle School class specifically addresses skills that students will face for the first time when they move to a new and larger campus. This secondary Middle School Enrichment class does not address the transition to middle school.
