Active Learning Tech Loan

Learn about procedures & available devices through the Active Learning Tech Loan program.

Procedures

  • For Active Learning Equipment, the loan period is three months. Loans may be extended at the end of three months if another district has not requested the item(s) your student is using.
  • Tech Loan items are loaned to provide a specific student access based on their assessment data. Specific student information will be needed in order to proceed.
  • For Active Learning Loans, the AT assessment consists of the Fine and Gross Motor section of the Functional Scheme Assessment or reports from OT and PT that support the student’s use of this equipment. Please contact Sara Kitchen to schedule a conversation and be ready to investigate that information together.
  • Once it is determined the type of equipment that your student might benefit from, you will receive a link to the Active Learning Tech Loan Application.
  • A written agreement will be prepared, which outlines the items in detail and the responsibilities of the receiving agency for equipment use, repair, and return.
  • The loan agreement will be sent via DocuSign. A local agency must sign that they accept responsibility for using the loaned equipment.
  • TSBVI Outreach Staff, District Staff, and Education Service Center Staff will coordinate the Active Learning Equipment transfer. It is not recommended to send these items through a shipper.
  • In the event that the equipment is damaged or lost, TSBVI Outreach should be contacted to coordinate the repair of the equipment.
  • At the conclusion of the loan, the agency who borrowed a tech loan item is responsible for the return of the equipment, which can be coordinated in the same way it was received.

NOTE: DO NOT SEND as “Free Matter for the Blind.”
If the device or equipment is lost due to being sent “Free Matter for the Blind,” the borrowing agency will be financially responsible for covering the cost of replacing the device.
