The VISSPA is a workload analysis tool that should be completed by itinerant VI professionals. Data entered into the VISSPA can be shared with an administrator or decision-making team to determine the appropriate workload for the VI professional.
The VISSPA can be completed at any time a VI professional or an administrator seeks to document the workload of the VI professional. The tool may be used when assigning students to the VI professional or when there are significant changes in a professional’s responsibilities (e.g., new students move into a district). The tool should be used at least annually when analyzing caseload distribution and workload within the VI program for planning purposes at the end of the school year or within the first few weeks at the beginning of a new school year.
Ideally, the VISSPA should include total direct and collaborative consultation service time from the VISSIT and/or O&M VISSIT results for all students on an individual’s caseload. Current student service delivery time data for both direct and collaborative consultation time must be calculated prior to completing the VISSPA. Calculate the total time spent on each of the activities listed in the three components before entering data into the VISSPA. Hover the cursor over the small “i” (Information) icon next to each task for a definition of each component.
The VISSPA was designed to work best on a computer with Adobe Acrobat Reader or Acrobat Reader DC. Using the VISSPA on a tablet or a phone is an option, but it is not recommended, as some of the features may not work correctly.
Download and open the VISSPA in Adobe Acrobat Reader or Acrobat Reader DC.
- If the VISSPA is opened in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Microsoft Edge, or another browser, then information may be entered, but the form will not calculate the numbers correctly until it is downloaded to your computer.
- Enable JavaScript in order to utilize the form. Click Activate JavaScript in Your Browser for more information.
- On a Mac computer, open the VISSPA in Adobe Acrobat Reader or a similar program. The MacIntosh Viewer is not made to fill in forms.
- The interactive VISSPA form is NOT meant to be completed as a printed document, as the range scores will only calculate electronically. Once completed electronically, you may print a copy of the final VISSPA results.
