November 3 - 5 (referrals due by September 15, 2019)

Grades 3-5

Cartoon of students manipulating a 3 dimensional moleculeMany concepts in science are currently taught using videos or worksheets rather than hands-on demonstrations with authentic materials. This presents particular challenges for students with low vision and blindness, who may lack the prerequisite concepts needed to learn material alongside their peers. Super Science! is designed to help students access science concepts that they may miss due to their lack of visual access to the curriculum. Visual concepts will be addressed using a multi-sensory approach emphasizing student engagement and participation. Activities will include:

  • Opportunities to practice using science lab equipment
  • Discussions in lab safety procedures
  • Discovery of the Scientific Process
  • Multi-sensory experiments aligned to age appropriate concept development.

Because this class is very short, families should plan for the student to attend all of the class hours, ending at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
