About Summer Programs
Summer Programs (June 8 – July 4) offer enrichment opportunities for students who are blind and low vision from across the state. Summer programs are available for students ages 6-22. We strive to provide activities that are engaging, interactive, educational, and fun!
- Elementary Enrichment June 8–June 13 or June 15–June 20 (ages 6–12): This one-week program is designed for our younger students, offering an opportunity for social interaction with peers from across the state. Serving students with a wide range of access needs.
- Secondary Enrichment June 22–June 27 or June 29–July 4 (ages 12–22): This one-week program is for students who are enrolled in middle or high school during this school year. Serving students with a wide range of access needs.
- Physical Education: Lifetime Fitness and Wellness Pursuits June 8-June 27 (grades 9-12): This fast-paced course offers high school students the opportunity to earn one-half Physical Education credit in three weeks.
- Summer Work Experience in Austin Texas (SWEAT) June 8-July 4 (ages 16–22): Work program for students who are learning from a curriculum that is on or close to grade level. In order to determine learning goals for SWEAT, students may be required to participate in an online interview via Zoom.
- Working And Living In The Community (WALIC) June 8-July 4 (ages 16–22): Work program for students using a curriculum three or more years below grade level.

Application Information
The Summer Programs Application opens January 6 and closes February 14 each year.

- The application period is January 6–February 14 each year.
- Applications should be completed by the student’s Certified Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (CTSVI). Summer programs do not require an ARD or district referral.
- Parents are responsible for transportation to and from summer programs.
- Parents are responsible for personal spending money for their student, the amount for each program will be listed in the acceptance letter but averages $20 per week.
- There are no costs to the school district.

Once you complete the form, return it to your student’s CTSVI so that they may complete the application process.
