Buñuelos
Ingredients:
- About 3 cups sifted flour
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 6 teaspoons baking powder
- 1½ tablespoons lard or solid vegetable shortening
- Water Mixture: Dissolve over heat, 2 teaspoons sugar and 2½ teaspoons cinnamon in about ¾ cups water.
Instructions:
- Combine dry ingredients.
- Add water mixture to make a dough.
- Make 1 inch balls out of the dough.
- Roll each ball into thin tortilla shape.
- Melt lard or vegetable shortening in a skillet.
- When the shortening is hot, fry the buñuelo on each side until golden brown.
- Drain on a paper towel.
- Sprinkle both sides with cinnamon sugar.
