Join us for a flexible professional learning series based on the book, If You Can See It, You Can Support It. Each session will focus on a tactile language theme, combining a brief chapter overview with real-world examples and collaborative discussion. Come to one session or attend them all and leave with strategies you can use right away to support communication for individuals who are deafblind or have complex access needs.

  • October 20: Tactile Language & Context: Building Foundations (Chapter 2-3)
  • November 17: Language Development in Children with Complex Access Needs (Chapter 4-5)
  • December 15: Tactile Sensations & the Brain: Groundwork for Communication (Chapter 6-7)
  • January 19: Tactile Language in Action (Chapter 8-9)
  • February 16: Tactile Iconicity & Outdoor Activities for Language Growth (Chapter 10-11)
  • March 9: The Body’s Role in Meaning (Chapter 12-14)
  • April 20: Tactile Language and Real-World Learning Experiences (Chapter 15-16)
  • May 11: Strategies for Multi-Party and Bilingual Support (Chapter 17-19)
