Braille Boot Camp is a four-day, hands-on, experiential training program designed to develop the knowledge and skills necessary for producing braille documents, tactile graphics, and an introduction to 3D printing for students with blindness or visual impairments. Training will cover both literary and mathematical subject areas.
There is also a session on cleaning and repairing the Perkins Braille Writer, led by Sue Fowler and Amanda Storaasli. We suggest bringing a braillewriter to be cleaned for this session, but if you do not have one or are traveling, we can provide one.
Sue O’Brien, Mindy Hudson, and Amanda Storaasli will lead and support participants through both small-group and individual activities. You will leave with a folder of braille documents and tactile graphics created during Boot Camp.
