This document details almost 40 syndromes that impact vision, some of which impact hearing as well. “A syndrome is a group of symptoms that occur together and may affect the whole body or any of its parts.” Many times we hear only about the visual impairment that a student has, and possibly the name of a syndrome. This document can help begin the process of learning the broader implications that a young person may experience with the diagnosis of a particular syndrome. The document covers information on general characteristics of the syndrome as well as specifics about ocular involvement with each syndrome.
