MONTHLY SALARY:  $3,467.00 and up depending on qualifications
SHIFT:  This is a full time position, 40 hour/week.  20 hrs/week in Weekends Home Dept and 20 hrs/week in Residential Dept.  The Weekends Home shift-Friday 1:30pm – 11:30pm & Sun 9:00am – 7:00pm.  Shift may change to Thursday or Monday 1x monthly.  Must be available all these days. Residential Dept shift is to be determined

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (Weekends Home Department)

  • Accompanies students to and from their home communities on weekend trips, ensuring their safety and well-being
  • Supervises and assists students at departure, during the trip, and at all stops
  • Participates as a member of student teams and implements the student’s educational plans during the weekends home trips
  • Fosters the education of the students in academic, daily living, leisure time and social skills based upon the programs written by the teachers and team
  • Maintains Vehicles and weekends home facilities so as to provide for safe transportation of students and a safe environment
  • Attends work regularly in accordance with TSBVI leave policy
  • Complies with all agency policies and procedures
  • Performs related work as assigned

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (Residential Department)

  • Participates as a member of specific student teams
  • Implements the student’s educational plans during the evening and weekend hours
  • Plans activities to consistently foster the education of the students in academic, daily living, leisure time and social skills based upon the programs by the teachers and team
  • Maintains residential facilities in order to provide for an optimal learning environment
  • May be required to enter the water and monitor students during swimming activities
  • May be required to drive students in a school vehicle
  • Attends work regularly in accordance with TSBVI leave policy
  • Complies with all agency policies and procedures
  • Performs related work as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • Skill in working harmoniously with children and adults.
  • Must be able to lift 25-50 lbs.
  • Must be willing to learn basic sign language if required by student assignment.
  • One year paid employment experience.
  • Former students who apply must not have been enrolled as students for the past three years

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • One-year full-time experience as a Resident Specialist at TSBVI OR one-year full-time experience in a closely related direct care capacity
  • Experience working with children
  • CPR and First Aid certification
  • Ability to communicate, receptively and expressively, through both sign language and oral speech
  • Ability to swim and to accompany students into the pool during swimming activities
  • Previous child/adult related experience in a child care, group home, educational, or medical facility setting
  • Current driver’s license. Good driving record
