ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Fleet maintenance in support of TSBVI Transportation and Operations departments.
- Maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of school buses, multi-function activity buses, and vans to support our student transportation needs. We provide most tools.
- Maintenance and repair of electric and gasoline utility and transport carts.
- Computer diagnostics and data analysis for diesel and gasoline engines.
- Inspection and safety testing of all vehicles for secure student travel.
- Requisition and documentation of parts and labor needed for repairs.
- Timely entry of all parts and labor into the Texas Fleet Management System.
- Clear communication with staff and management on work progress.
- Communication with the Fleet Manager to establish and adhere to work priorities.
- Consistent 40-hour work week Monday – Friday in an air conditioned facility.
- On-call hours outside of the standard work week and optional overtime.
- On-call support for our Weekends Home program on Fridays and Sundays during the school year. (Alternating weekends with our other Motor Vehicle Technician).
- Communication and troubleshooting with drivers during on-call hours.
- Attend work regularly in accordance with TSBVI leave policy.
- Comply with all applicable security and safety rules, regulations, and standards.
- Perform related work as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent.
- Graduation from an accredited ASE certified automotive technical school.
- General knowledge of standard gasoline and diesel engines.
- Valid Class A or B Texas Commercial Driver’s License.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- ASE Electronic Diesel Engine Diagnosis Specialist Certification.
- ASE School Bus Certification.
- ASE Transit Bus Certification.
- Ability to read and understand technical documents and electrical schematics.
- Experience working on TransArctic rooftop AC systems for buses.
- Valid Class B Texas CDL with Passenger and School Bus Endorsements.
