ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Supports the Warehouse Supervisor in the operation of a consumable supplies warehouse to ensure all staff has the supplies necessary to properly perform their assigned duties.
  • Assists the Warehouse Supervisor in processing all warehouse transactions in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Assists the Warehouse Supervisor in ensuring all warehouse activities are conducted according to state regulations and TSBVI policies and procedures.
  • Arranges and rotates stock for convenience of handling and prevention of deterioration and spoilage.
  • Delivers non-stock items received through the warehouse to appropriate destinations.
  • Processes orders for curriculum publications; pulls items from stock, and packages and prepares for shipment to customers.
  • Operates the American Printing House for the Blind (APH) Materials Distribution Center, including maintaining materials quota for distribution to local school districts and other eligible recipients throughout the state, packing and shipping APH supplies and materials to various school districts, and receiving and restocking returned materials and equipment from quota recipients.
  • Operates the linen stations to ensure timely pick-up and delivery of linens to user departments.
  • Packages and ships equipment and furniture returned to vendors or state surplus.
  • Assists with physical inventories and movement of supplies, equipment and furniture.
  • Maintains safe working conditions in the warehouse; identifies and informs Warehouse Supervisor of hazardous conditions so corrective action may be taken.
  • Attend work regularly in accordance with TSBVI leave policy
  • Comply with all applicable security and safety rules, regulations, and standards
  • Perform related work as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • One-year full-time experience working in a warehouse environment or closely related experience.
  • Knowledge of the responsibilities related to the control and disposition of state owned supplies, equipment and furniture.
  • Skill in comprehending and following detailed procedures under minimal supervision.
  • Skill in cooperating with other staff.
  • Skill in working in a fast paced environment and maintaining accurate records.
  • Must possess the physical stamina to work in inclement weather, including the physical strength to lift and move items weighing up to 60 pounds, to kneel and bend at the waist, and to climb stairs and retrieve inventory.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working in an environment where maintaining an inventory was required to complete tasks.
  • Knowledge of and/or certified to operate equipment specific to warehouse operations, including commercial cart, pallet jack and fork lift.
  • Valid Texas Driver License, including a good driving record to operate state vehicle.
  • Computer skills related to software used in warehouse shipping, receiving or accounting.
  • Knowledge of laundry distribution within a residential educational facility.
  • Knowledge of American Printing House for the Blind inventory, receiving and distribution.
