ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Supervises students in the TSBVI/AISD dual enrollment program who take classes at McCallum High School (and Lamar Middle School if needed )in regards to assignments in Blend, report cards, and announcements.
  • Coordinates scheduling of both classes at  McCallum High School and at TSBVI
  • Provides supportive instructional coaching to students.
  • Utilizes and supervises student usage of AISD’s BLEND site for teacher information and assignments.
  • Works closely with TSBVI teachers and staff and AISD teachers and staff for efficient operations and effective communication between schools.
  • Assists McCallum teachers in adapting, accommodating, and modifying materials for classroom activities.
  • Confers with McCallum teachers and support staff about assessment of TSBVI students and best teaching practices.
  • Regularly informs staff about calendar, bell schedules, assemblies, and other school functions that affect students in dual enrollment.
  • Utilizes effective teaching techniques and classroom strategies to support various learning styles.
  • Uses professional classroom management techniques to facilitate learning.
  • Serves as an advisor for students as a part of the Admission, Review and Dismissal (ARD) process and as the assigned Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (TSVI) for assigned students.
  • May complete Functional Vision and Learning Media Assessments for assigned students.
  • Follows student Behavior Intervention Plans (consistently implementing prescribed proactive strategies and responses to behavior)
  • Collaborates with instructional teams and participates in professional learning communities.
  • Continually pursues professional growth and development.
  • Attends work regularly per TSBVI leave policy and procedures.
  • Comply with all agency policies, procedures, and handbooks.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (official transcripts required upon hire).
  • Must have Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments certification.
