ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Manages the operations of a dormitory unit including providing responsiveness and support off scheduled hours.
  • Supervises dormitory staff including ensuring the students’ individual programs, which primarily focus on the following area: independent daily living, social communication, recreation and leisure, and self-determination.
  • Provides training and supervision to residential instructors, including direct child care responsibilities as required.
  • Ensures good ongoing parent communication.
  • Develops dorm rules and a consistent approach to student discipline following departmental practices that focus on student growth and positive outcomes.
  • Ensures coordination of school day programs and residential programs through a commitment to the team process and ongoing communication.
  • Supports weekly and ongoing student transportation plans
  • Works to ensure physical and personal safety and well-being of students. Ensures student health and wellness coordination with the Health center.
  • Attends work regularly in accordance with TSBVI leave policy.
  • Complies with all agency policies and procedures.
  • Performs all related work as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school graduation or equivalent
  • 1 year full-time direct care experience at TSBVI
  • 2 years full-time direct care, social services, human services, or closely related experience; may substitute 105 credit hours from an accredited college or university in a related field of study for the required experience on a year for year basis
  • Skill in completing assigned tasks and meeting established deadlines
  • Skill in data collection and report writing
  • Skill in developing professional relations with parents, other staff and community
  • Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills
  • Must have sufficient physical strength to assist in lifting and/or transferring students up to adult age

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • CPR and First Aid certification
  • PBIS Training
