ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Directs activities to ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, rules, and regulations related to areas of responsibility
- Directs the preparation of Student Care Summaries to direct care staff for students attending on-campus programs
- Manages the use and general training for the school’s Skyward Student Information System
- Manages state and federal reporting, including Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS)
- Supervises activities of the school’s Registrar
- Directs the Referral and Admissions Process for Comprehensive Programs students
- Directs enrollment of incoming Comprehensive Programs and Short Term Programs students
- Directs the initiation and ongoing implementation of the School’s participation in the Student Health and Related Services (SHARS) Medicaid program, in partnership with the TSBVI Business Office
- Directs Student Protection Investigations related to abuse, neglect, exploitation, and improper child care practices
- Serves as Title IX Coordinator, including directing investigations of complaints of sexual harassment
- Serves as the agency Records Management Officer (RMO) and as custodian of student records
- Develops assigned policies and procedures in collaboration with the Superintendent
- Attend work regularly in accordance with TSBVI leave policy.
- Comply with all applicable security and safety rules, regulations, and standards.
- Perform related work as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four year college or university (Original college or university transcript(s) required at time of interview)
- Master’s Degree or TEA certification in Educational Administration
- At least five years progressive responsibility in the field of education for blind and visually impaired students
- Knowledge of and experience in ensuring compliance with federal and state laws, rules, and regulations governing special education and student records management (IDEA and FERPA)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience directing investigations of reported child abuse, neglect and exploitation in accord with law and policy
- Knowledge of the Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS) and other state/ federal reporting
- Knowledge of special education software and student management data systems
- Knowledge of the Student Health and Related Services (SHARS) Medicaid program
- Experience as a Title IX Coordinator
- Knowledge and experience in the education of students with visual impairment
- Experience in strategic planning
