ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Teach Career and Technology Education (CTE) courses as assigned (including General Employability class) to middle school, high school and adult aged students.
- Utilize effective teaching techniques and classroom strategies to support various learning styles.
- Use professional classroom management techniques to facilitate learning.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop Career Education curriculum for students with diverse abilities.
- Create and utilize differentiated lesson plans to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Serve as an advisor for students preparing for transition and graduation (includes conducting Transition assessments)
- Create and implement Student Learning Objectives (SLOs)
- Participate in the ARD committee process and contribute to goal development and implementation.
- Follow student Behavior Intervention Plans (consistently implementing prescribed proactive strategies and responses to behavior)
- Stay current with industry trends and research-based educational strategies to prepare students for future employment.
- Collaborate with instructional teams and participate in professional learning communities.
- Maintain a safe and healthy learning environment in compliance with organizational standards and sanitation regulations.
- Engage with families, agencies, and community members to support individual student needs.
- Continually pursue professional growth and development.
- Attend work regularly per TSBVI leave policy and procedures.
- Comply with all agency policies, procedures, and handbooks.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (official transcripts required upon hire).
- Must have or be willing to obtain Texas Teacher certification in Family and Consumer Sciences and/or Technology Applications EC-12 within a specified period of time.
- Must have or be willing to obtain Texas Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments supplemental certification within a specified period of time.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills to manage a diverse student population and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
- Flexibility in scheduling.
- Positive, energetic, and capable of independent and group work.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience developing curriculum
- Proficiency with Google tools, including Google Classroom
- Proficiency/ familiarity with assistive technology (hardware and software)
- Proficiency/ familiarity with braille
