Instructions for Completing Your Job Application for TSBVI

NOTE: TSBVI does not accept handwritten applications.

Accessibility is very important to TSBVI. This page will help you create an accessible application. While an inaccessible application will not prohibit you from being hired, it will slow the down the hiring process.

Steps to Apply

Please follow these instructions carefully when completing the State of Texas Employment Application to avoid complicating the review process and ensure document accessibility. Definitions and terminology descriptions are available through the hyperlinks below for your convenience.

  1. On the Careers page, select the Ways to Apply button to access the application.
  2. Under the title Ways to Apply, select the link Through a fillable State of Texas application to open the PDF file. Download to complete with your information and save the file as a PDF on your device. Follow the same steps for the “Employment History Continuation” form, if needed.
  3. Any other documents submitted (e.g., a resume) should be a Word document, a PDF, or shared via Google Docs.
  4. Submit by emailing [email protected].

Other Important steps to follow

  • Do not export the PDF version of the Employment Applicant to other formats such as MS Word or Google Docs. If you do, it can disrupt the document’s format and complicate the review process.
  • Do not convert the PDF to a scanned document. Scanned documents convert to images, and a screen reader cannot read pictures.
  • Do not use the “Print to PDF” feature It converts a PDF to a non-accessible version. Only use the “Save As” feature and then “Save to PDF” when you save the file.
  • Make sure your resume is easily accessible by following best practices for accessibility. An accessible resume is designed to be easily read and understood by everyone, including individuals with disabilities. It ensures that the content is usable for people who rely on assistive technologies, like screen readers, to access information.
