Electrifying News – White Cane Day Wednesday!

Campus Activities Campus updates Diversity

As you heard on the morning announcements, today is Indigenious Peoples’ Day, which I suspect has lineage ties to most of us. My maternal side are members of the Spokane Tribe of Indians in Washington State. Given the importance of these varied cultures, I want to highlight the Circle of Courage, representing Native American philosophies related to youth. Our own Deafblind Project members shared this with me a few years ago and I recommend you take a peek and ponder how it could impact the way you empower students across Texas.

Speaking of student empowerment, did you know the “Electrifying News” was named by our very own elementary students a few years ago? When seeking a title, students had many great suggestions and we landed on this one. For those staff who are new, I wanted you to know the electrified origination.

White Cane Day is Wednesday and we’re looking forward to the festivities. Staff, be sure to review your email for information about parking, marching, and more. This weekend, students travel home on Thursday and return on Monday providing a long weekend with families and dedicated work-time for staff.

Have a great week!
