Electrifying News – Welcome Back Students!

School has begun! Thanks to all who worked long hours Sunday to support student registration and offer a warm welcome to our families. It’s going to be an excellent year.

I really enjoyed the keynote presentation last week by Dr. Jacqui Spiller regarding resiliency and the growth mindset. I’ve been thinking a lot about areas of my life where I have a growth mindset and areas where it’s more fixed. If you have ten minutes and you’ve been pondering, too, here is Dr. Spiller’s recommendation by Carol Dweck on “The Power of Yet.”

Last week, the Campus Culture Committee facilitated training from individuals who are Deaf, Deafblind, and Blind or have low vision. We continue to value first person perspectives at TSBVI; where inclusivity, diversity, and culture are prioritized. I’ve just started listening to the audiobook “The Country of the Blind” by Andrew Leland, who is a blind author, and I’m already learning so much from his personal journey.
