Electrifying News – Welcome Back!
Welcome back, TSBVI! It was great seeing everyone this morning and I really enjoyed our keynote speaker, Dr. Mika Baugh. What a good reminder to be truly inclusive, to let students take risks, give space for them to try hard things, and remember to meet students at their level, even if it’s just making time to play. Student registration will be this Sunday, August 16th, with the first day of classes on August 17th.
This morning I mentioned the Monarch braille device roll-out happening in Texas. There was a great news story about a creative 4th of July use with one of our summer program attendees. Check it out online.
All Blind Children of Texas will be hosting their annual fundraiser on Friday, September 25th at Chez Zee Bistro from 6-9pm. It will include an evening of food, musical performances, storytelling, and an exciting silent auction. If interested you can find out more on their website.
On Thursday, August 20, East Texas Lighthouse for the Blind will host a free Meta AI Glasses event in partnership with the Blinded Veterans Association (BVA), CAMP V, and Meta. Eligible veterans will receive a free pair of Ray-Ban Meta AI Glasses and individualized training from our Assistive Technology Specialists. You can register for the event or find out more online.
