Electrifying News – Summer Programs Begin!
Summer programs have begun! We accepted 237 students who will be here over the next four weeks participating in extensive learning opportunities on campus and in the community. We expect about 75 students to register June 9th, with additional registration events on June 16th, 23rd, and 30th. I’m looking forward to welcoming new students on campus.
As a reminder, please wear your badges daily and ensure they’re visible on campus. If you see anyone without a badge or visitor sticker, please ask if they need assistance and escort them to building 600 to sign-in if needed. If you’re unable to assist them, please contact security.
Recently, an inclusive language guide was shared with the Council of Schools and Services for the Blind. Written by Bryan Bashin for Be My Eyes, he shares from a first-person perspective correct language to use when referring to people who are blind or have low vision. He also identifies terms to avoid. As a perpetual learner myself, I found recommendations within his article helpful and identified ways I can improve my own communication.
Have a great week!
