Electrifying News: NFB Convention and More!
This past weekend the National Federation of the Blind (NFB) held their first in-person national convention in three years in New Orleans. TSBVI had staff and students in attendance. We highly value our partnership with the NFB and the NFB of Texas and look forward to continued work with them on mentorship, student programs, teacher development, and more. The state convention will be held November 11-13 in Houston.
Summer programs have officially wrapped up. Thanks to all the staff who worked tirelessly over the past many weeks ensuring positive student outcomes! I hope they all can enjoy some well-deserved time off now.
As a reminder, the Austin Police Department has canceled the previously scheduled drill for Friday, July 15th, so summer work should continue as usual.
I’d like to announce one more time that TSBVI has a brand new website up and running! When landing on our site you’ll see the statement, “Empowering Students to Pursue Possibilities.” Thanks to Angela Wolf for providing those words as we brainstormed something short that defines our work. I know we were both inspired by conversations with the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, so I thank them as well.
Have a great week!
