Electrifying News – Make48 and SCASB

Today is Tax Day! I hope everyone remembered to file their taxes. This has been the United States Tax Day very consistently since 1955 and the idea of Tax Day was introduced in 1913, so hopefully April 15th never sneaks up on you.

This weekend, TSBVI students participated in a Make48 competition at the Kansas School for the Blind. The event was filmed for TV and will be aired first this fall on “This Old House Maker Edition” on Roku. It will be available on YouTube at a later date. More will be shared by staff sponsors Sue O’Brien and Chris Correll as soon as we’re able.

TSBVI really showed up for SCASB Track and Performing Arts this weekend at the Louisiana School for the Visually Impaired (LSVI). Our talented student musicians played an excellent set and both our Girls and Boys teams placed 2nd with Alabama teams claiming 1st. Darrius M. also won a coveted MVP Award!

Good luck to students participating in STAAR testing and thanks to staff accommodating testing schedules. Also, much appreciation to all the staff who traveled to Kansas and Louisiana this weekend. Your long hours result in student opportunities empowering them to achieve their goals and dreams.

Have a great week!
