Electrifying News – Low Vision Conference

Happy May Day! A European holiday celebrating the halfway point between the spring equinox and summer solstice. One website described it as “a day of unity, togetherness, and rebirth; a day for everyone to come together and celebrate life as we know it!” They also shared that in the 19th century, “May Day also became known as International Workers’ Day for labor rights,” resulting in the 8 hour standard work day instead of 12.

Upcoming events include TSBVI Outreach hosting the Low Vision Conference at Region 13’s conference center on Friday with a focus on transition. On Friday afternoon and Saturday until about 6pm we will be hosting an adult goalball competition on campus. Save the date for our Staff Appreciation Event on May 11th from 2-4pm. Check out the Student Art Show May 1st – 8th in the foyer of building 606. You can stop by whenever it works for you.

Congratulations to our student actors and singers for a successful production of Finding Nemo, Jr.! Much appreciation to staff, family members, and volunteers who supported their work. Also, thanks to the team who worked all weekend on City Travel, a Short-Term Programs and Outreach collaboration. Students and families from around Texas were able to experience O&M in the city, empowering them to expand their horizons.

Have a great week,
Emily Coleman, Superintendent
