Electrifying News – Happy Birthday Anne Sullivan Macy!

Happy Birthday to Anne Sullivan Macy! She famously taught Helen Keller, becoming her lifelong friend, and was a person with low vision herself. Another advocate for empowerment, she once said, “A strenuous effort must be made to train young people to think for themselves and take independent charge of their lives.”

Congrats to our SCASB track stars! The TSBVI girls and boys teams each took second place at the event in Alabama over the weekend with many individual awards. Again, I was so proud of our students and staff and how they represent TSBVI. Go Wildcats!

On Friday, April 18th, we have an agency holiday so will be closed for the long weekend. Wishing a Happy Easter and Good Friday to those that will be celebrating. On Monday, the state celebrates San Jacinto Day, which recognizes the final battle of the Texas Revolution when Texas won independence from Mexico. Monday will be a travel day for students and a teacher prep day, so many of our staff will be working, but some offices will be closed. There will be no Electrifying News that day.

Don’t forget the Third Annual Almost Real Things Art Show on Thursday, April 24th, from 6-8p, held at 820 Shelby Ln #103 in Austin.

Have a great week!
