Electrifying News – Fiesta!

Two more weeks of the 22-23 school year and there is so much going on! Wednesday, the 17th, we’ll have Fiesta from 11:15 – 2:15 pm. The $4.00 lunch will be available 11:30 to 1:30 pm including fajitas, pinto beans, spanish rice, fresh guacamole, and more. We’ll have music, dancing, performance by the TSBVI Mariachi Band, Grito contest, pinatas, and cascarones.

On Thursday, I get to have lunch with our graduates and later that day we’ll have a retirement celebration from 3:45 – 4:45 pm in the cafeteria. Join us in celebrating the careers of Michael Clinkscales and Kay Pruett. I hear there will be cake and a dance party, so come ready to boogie.

On Friday, our students will be presenting the spring Big Show in the auditorium and live streamed from 9:45 – 11:25 am. We also have two large stakeholder meetings in the Outreach building on Tuesday and Wednesday this week. We’ll convene TEA’s Texas Action Committee for the Education of Students with Visual Impairment and the Personnel Preparation Advisory Group. I look forward to working with them to improve and promote services for the 11,000 students in Texas who are blind, low vision, and Deafblind.

If you ever send mail to the warehouse without postage, be sure to use printed address labels from now on. Mail goes outside of TSBVI for processing and they will no longer accept hand-written addresses. Just want to make sure your recipients get their mail.

Finally, TSBVI art students were featured by KVUE last week due to their exhibit at Almost Real Things this past weekend. The students did a great job explaining their art and what it brings to their lives and the lives of others.

Have a great week!
