Electrifying News – Disability Employment Awareness Month
October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month. As our mission to empower students relies on equity in the workplace, messaging inclusive employment practices is critical. It’s also fitting that our biggest event celebrating equity for people who are blind, deafblind, and have low vision is coming up. White Cane Day is October 12th and we’re continuing with traditional BBQ, marching, dancing, and fun.
Speaking of fun, be sure to check out the “Paws for Praise” on the campus info site. I appreciate the individuals recognizing their fellow employees and those being praised, too. Our positive culture and supportive community is seen throughout these posts.
TSBVI provides an opportunity for anybody to share a safety concern at any time and anonymously if they choose. You can find a link to “Safety Concerns” at the bottom of our TSBVI website and every submission is reviewed by our Safe and Supportive School Team. As a reminder, don’t forget to keep an eye out for anyone on campus without a badge. All visitors must check in with security or in building 600 at the front desk.
Have a great week!
