Electrifying News – Congrats Braille Finalists!

Texas was represented well at the National Braille Challenge Finals last week! Competitors included Caylen C., Leo D., Aston P., and Randy V. in the Junior Varsity category and EmmaGrace O. in Varsity. Congrats to Caylen C. for placing second and Leo D. for placing third! All five of you make us proud.

This week at the National Federation of the Blind (NFB) Convention in Orlando, Florida, our very own Dori Senatori will be recognized as the NFB 2024 Distinguished Educator of Blind Students. Congrats, Dori!

Following Summer School, our campus will be undergoing many changes. During July, the phone system will be switched to a Zoom platform and wifi will be upgraded as well. More information to come from IR when those projects commence. Also, on July 22nd, we’re launching an updated Campus Info site at the same web address and the password will remain the same.

Starting next week, we’ll begin re-keying all the locks on campus. The badge readers will remain the same, but physical locks and keys will be replaced. If you have not completed the TSBVI Key Survey please do so ASAP, and definitely by the end of this week. Operations and management will be messaging more later on regarding new keys and when you’ll have them in your hands.

On Thursday, our nation celebrates the 4th of July. Thank you to everyone working as we finish out our Summer Programs. Happy Independence Day and thank you to the men and women in our armed forces who serve on our behalf. In the words of Amanda Gorman, “being an American is more than a pride we inherit–It’s the past we step into, and how we repair it.”

Due to the break in student programs, the Electrifying News will return on August 5th along with many staff. Our official all-campus Welcome Back will be on Monday, August 12th.

Have a great week and enjoy summer!
