Electrifying News – Celebrating Braille

January 4th was Louis Braille’s birthday and also World Braille Day! Literacy is the cornerstone of education and a fundamental human right. Access to knowledge and information should not be privileged, but delivered equitably for all. Braille ensures equal opportunities for our students and an education they have a right to receive, empowering them to fulfill their dreams.

Speaking of our students, the most recent episode of A Sense of Texas highlighted a TSBVI alumni, Ricky Castaneda. Ricky talks about being a Paralympic Athlete and Ambassador for the US Blind Soccer team. He also speaks fondly of his days at TSBVI and the educators who made a difference in his life. Check it out to learn about the sport and additional highlights from Mark Gronquist, TSBVI Co-Athletic Director.

On Monday, January 13th, the IR Department will be initiating a network/computer password reset for anyone who hasn’t reset their password in the last six months. This measure is being taken as a proactive step to safeguard your accounts and sensitive data from potential security risks. Your Gmail account login will not be affected by this reset and more details will be coming from IR, including opportunities to access tech support as needed.

Winter weather seems to be upon us this week. Please check your email regularly for updates and if you haven’t signed up for emergency notifications, please do so ASAP at the following link: TSBVI Emergency Notifications Sign-Up.

I hope you had a wonderful break and wishing you a Happy New Year. As I was recently reminded by a valued colleague, gratitude fosters happiness, and I’m grateful for each of you and the joy you bring to your work at TSBVI and the lives of our students.

Have a great week!
Emily Coleman, Superintendent
