Electrifying News – Blind Soccer Update
Thanks to staff who coordinated last week’s Black Heritage Month movie, Hidden Figures, and our delicious meal in the cafeteria. In addition to the fabulous lunch service and food, the tables were decorated beautifully. The event was extra meaningful as we mourned the loss of civil rights activist Rev. Jesse Jackson last week, too.
For the past few years, TSBVI has been seeking funding to install a blind soccer pitch on our campus. In the 2028 Summer Paralympics, it will be the first time the US team will compete. Well, with the support of gracious sponsors, the construction of our blind soccer pitch is beginning! Our expected completion date is mid-April. Check out the progress along the way in the field next to the Business Office/ IR building. If you’d like to learn more about blind soccer from one of our alumni playing for Team USA, check out the December 2024 episode from A Sense of Texas.
As we prepare for next month, I want to remind everyone that Monday, March 16th, is an Agency Holiday. TSBVI will be closed and agency holiday leave will apply to all classified staff. More reminders will come from HR as we approach spring break.
Have a great week!
Emily Coleman, Superintendent
