Electrifying News – Black History Month

Campus Activities Family Lynx Campus updates Diversity

This week the Mentor Center is back on campus! Be sure to welcome our guests from around Texas. Family Lynx will be having their monthly meeting tomorrow, February 7th, at 7pm online. This month’s guest speakers will discuss guardianship and alternatives, including the process in Texas.

We continue to celebrate Black History Month at TSBVI. Be sure to listen to the morning announcements to learn about important individuals that have shaped our history. For a local opportunity, check out the George Washington Carver Museum, Cultural, and Genealogy Center in Austin.

This morning, we will share information about TSBVI with the Senate Finance Committee. The agenda starts at 10am and the livestream can be found online. Within our five minutes of allotted time, we plan to explain our programs, share hiring challenges, and review additional funding requests that have not already made it into the proposed budget bills.

I’ve been thinking about those in our community without power for multiple days and perhaps still without power. Please let your supervisor know if you need any additional support or resources. We greatly appreciated everyone who safely made it into work. Thank you to the nurses and direct care staff who stayed on campus to ensure student safety. Thanks also to the cafeteria, facility, and security staff for your diligence. Last week was a mess and I look forward to better days ahead.

Have a great week!
Emily Coleman, Superintendent
