Alert message

  • Myth: I can ONLY use text on my site - no graphics, multimedia, or scripts. Corollary: I must create a text only site to make my site accessible.
    Truth: Well-designed, accessible graphics, multimedia and scripts may facilitate understanding of the page by "everyone." 
  • Myth: Making my site accessible will double my costs.
    Truth: If accessibility is considered from the beginning, it is just another aspect of good design. The cost of redesigning an existing page depends on the design of the page.
  • Myth:  The U.S. government has mandated that ALL Web sites MUST be accessible.
    Truth: The ADA requires State and local governments and "places of public accommodation" to communicate effectively with individuals with disabilities. The Internet often facilitates this communication
