Welcome Parents of Children with Visual Impairments and Deafblindness!
As parents and caregivers of children with visual impairments, you play a critical role in your child's life outcomes. You are your child's first teachers, greatest resources, and strongest advocates. In the first years of your child's life you may feel totally overwhelmed by the diagnoses of visual impairment and often other health challenges. As you connect with the many resources Texas has to offer you and your child, typically things seem to become a little easier. This Parent Portal is meant to help you find the information, resources and connections you need as efficiently as possible. We hope it meets your needs, but if you find that something seems to be missing, please share your ideas or concerns with us.
This information is divided into two sections:
for all parents of students with visual impairments or deafblindness
for parents of students attending classes at TSBVI in the current school year
For All Parents of Students with Visual Impairments or Deafblindness
In addition to our Comprehensive Programs TSBVI offers options for students who are attending school in their local districts to complement that programming. Students who attend Comprehensive Programs are not eligible for either Short-term Programs or Summer Programs during the school year they are attending regular school programs at TSBVI. These are:
Short-term Programs - these are programs which take place throughout the year over weekends or for short period of time. Your TVI, COMS or ARD team may make a referral to these programs.
Summer Programs - these are programs that take place in the summer. You may refer your child directly for these programs or in most cases have your teacher of students with visual impairments help you make this referral.
