Using Google with JFW 4.5

by Sharon Nichols

  1. Open Internet Explorer. Press Alt + D to enter the address box and type www.google.com and press the enter key. Or you can press Ctrl + O to open the Open Dialog box, and then enter www.google.com and press the Enter key. Either method will work.
  2. After the Google page opens, press the Ctrl Key to stop JFW reading. Now, press Ctrl + insert + Home to move to the first input field in the page, which will be the search input field. Press the Down Arrow key until you hear, “edit, blank”. To enter text into the field, you will need to turn Forms Mode on, to do this press the Enter key. You will hear, “forms mode on”. You can now enter the search item. For example: “Battle of San Jacinto”. Type in, “Battle of San Jacinto” then press the enter key. When the page loads, press the CTRL key, then use the DOWN ARROW to read with comprehension.
  3. Practice step two with a variety of search items. Use several search items, and especially try out school appropriate terms.
  4. Let’s try something together. Go to google.com. Look up star fish. Don’t forget to put quotation marks around the two words to prevent search returns on the word “star”, and the word “fish”.
