Equipment Installation, Configuration, and Customization Competencies

Cluster 1: General

Ability to:

1.1. Install and configure mainstream office applications.

1.2. Utilize application and access software help resources.

1.3. Perform troubleshooting procedures.

1.4. Install, interface and operate standard peripheral devices (e.g. printers, storage devices, scanners).

1.5. Create documentation of the system installation and configuration including an electronic backup of the system.

1.6. Demonstrate a customized system to an end-user.

Cluster 2: Assistive Technology

Ability to setup and configure:

2.1. Operating system and commercial application settings to maximize accessibility.

2.2. Various versions of speech/braille screen access software and hardware in correct sequence.

2.3. Various versions of screen magnification software and hardware in correct sequence.

2.4. Alternative input software and hardware in correct sequence.

2.5. Access software and hardware in a network environment.

2.6. Braille translation software and embossers.

2.7. Optical character recognition software and hardware in correct sequence.

2.8. Electronic magnification systems (CCTVs) as stand-alone and/or peripheral devices.

2.9. Note takers/personal data assistants as stand-alone and/or peripheral devices.
