Hi, My name is Tenchita. I am 15 years old, and have a brother who is 16. I am totally blind. I use a Braille 'n speak, a device which I type with to do my school work. It has a calculator, calendar, and many other facilities. It's size is a bit bigger than a camera. Some things I do for fun are cooking, sewing, swimming, getting on the internet, emailing people, and listening to music. I also play piano very seriously and Mariachi violin for fun. like to travel a lot with other friends. I really like to be with people my age and have
fun with them. I really enjoy partying with others a lot. When I grow up I want to be a
psychologist and a pianist. I also would like to volunteer helping others as much as I
can. I really enjoy kids and teaching. I do teach piano during the summer.
I attend schoool at the High School for Performing and Visual Arts. My best subjects in school are English and foreign language. My worst subject is Math even though many people say musicians should be great mathematicians. I personally think it is different for a blind student since we don't see the music, more than likely we learn all our repertoire by ear. I really get along with other people very easily. I always try to be happy and positive. Some of my favorite books are Homecoming, Rain of Gold, the Cay, and Wild Steps Through Heaven. I really like Latin American fiction. Some of my favorite movies are Starwars and Sudden death. Several places I would like to visit would be Paris and Austria because many classical composers were from there. I would also like to go to Mexico City to learn the history of Mexican music.
