My name is Jael and I was born in Dallas, Texas. I was born with a visual impairment. My doctors say that I am one of the only people who has that eye problem in the United States. That eye problem is called Retinitis Pigmentosa. I cannot wear glasses because my vision will get worse. I do not feel sorry for myself. I also have a hearing loss. I am not sure how long I've been having it. My doctors found out about my hearing loss years after I was born. They put tubes in my ears when I was a little girl and later the tubes came out. About a year later, I got my first pair of hearing aids. As I said earlier, I do not feel sorry for myself.
Now I would like to tell you a little about my family. I live with my mother, three older brothers, and a little sister. I think my mother is a little to over-protective. My oldest brother is Alexander and he gives me a break. My second brother is Joe and he likes to defend me. My third brother is Abel and he leaves me alone and my little sister is Karmina and she is very very very very very very bossy.
As you read the rest of my Autobiography, you will notice that everything will be about MY favorite things to do. For example, colors, subjects, music, and hobbies.
One of my very favorite things to do is play the piano. To me, playing the piano is like the keys of a computer keyboard. Every time I play the piano, it reminds me of Stevie Wonder. I think it is really fun. Here's a picture of a piano.
My favorite colors are red, purple, and blue. I do not know why I like those colors so much. I just like them. The only reason I like purple is because I look good in it. Laugh all you want! I do not care!
I am also a bookwarm. I love to read books. I can spend 7 to 8 hours reading a books. When I was in the 7th grade, I found out that I read in the 12th grade level. Some of my favorite books to read are AROUND WORLD IN 80 DAYS, ADVENTURES OF ROBINSON CRUSOE and millions of others.
I also like to write. I write stories, poems, and songs in private. I only show them to my best friends. Everything I write about feelings.
I have a bunch of favorite subjects so I am only going to tell you about one of them. That subject is Language Arts. I know you know why I like that so much. I also like Science. The reason I like it so much is because....its just fun!
My very very favorite animal is a horse. I love riding horses. It is a lot of fun.
Now I will talk about my favorite music groups. One of them is Insync. I like that group a lot. I also like the group Backstreet Boys. I think they are great guys. I do not really like to watch television but I still have favorite shows and one of them is Pinky and The Brain. Pinky and The Brain is this really funny cartoon show. I forgot to tell you who is my favorite singer. People call him M.B.K. and he is the coolest guy on earth. My favorite radio station is 106.1 KISS FM.
I also love to use computers. If I did not come to Tech Camp, I would still be brain dead with computers. I think they are a lot of fun.
I do not know why I like it. Now that I am almost done with my autobiography, I want to tell you a little bit about my future goals. I want to get a Seeing Eye Dog and work at The Light House For The Blind.
One of the reasons I like Tech Camp at TSBVI is because I get to meet kids from all over Texas.
