This class is designed for secondary students who have places to go and want to know how to get there. Whether it’s meeting friends for a movie or visiting relatives in a nearby town, students with visual impairments benefit from having a good foundation in travel skills.
In this class, students explore ways to safely and independently travel to places in the community, including: walking or taking a bus, plane, or train. Students plan trips, use mass transit scheduling information, solve problems, seek assistance, and travel to numerous sites in and around the Austin area. Emphasis is placed on both independence and the ability to work cooperatively in a group.
