You are only allowed to use eight (8) letters in the name. You may not use spaces, periods or commas. You may use numbers and hyphens. You obviously will need to develop some type of abbreviation system to help you organize your files and keep track of them. Here are some examples of names you might use and what they could be an abbreviation for.

NAME::DESCRIPTION
eng1-1::English, Chapter 1, Section 1
sci2t1::Science, Chapter 2, Test 1

- Note About File Size

It's hard to know what size your file needs to be when you first create it. However, TnS allows you to easily change the file size later if needed. TnS measures file sizes in "pages." These are not pages of paper and they do not relate to anything else that might seem logical. A 1 page file on the TnS holds 4096 characters. This includes letters, numbers, punctuation and spaces. In many cases a 1 page file size will be adequate. I suggest that you usually make the file size 1 page and then if you fill it up you can increase the size of the file. TnS will warn you when you when a file has reached its capacity. To increase the size of a file follow the steps below.

  1. Make sure the file is Open.
  2. Press the F1 key and you will hear it say, "Enter file command."
  3. Press the F2 key to add pages to the file size and you will hear it say, "Enter number of pages to expand."
  4. Type the number of the pages you wish to add. After you type the number you will hear it say, "OK, enter file command."
