Ingredients:

  • 1 large can (1 lb.,12 oz.) pork and beans (pick a good brand-this is no time to go for the cheap stuff)

  • 2 slices bacon, chopped

  • 1 green pepper, chopped

  • 1 small onion, chopped

  • 1 tbsp. brown sugar

  • 1 tsp. chile powder

  • ½ cup ketchup

  • ½ cup water

  • 1 small jalapeno, chopped fine

Instructions:

  1. Mix and bake in a 1 ½ quart casserole dish, uncovered, in a slow oven (325 degrees) for 3 hours.

  2. Stir often.

Serves 6
