Beef-Potato Moussaka
Ingredients:
- 1 lb. Ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cans (8 oz. each) or 1 can (16 oz.) tomato sauce
- 1 tsp. Salt
- ¼ tsp. Nutmeg
- ¼ tsp. Pepper
- 4 medium potatoes, peeled and cooked
- 2 eggs
- 1-⅓ cups milk
- ½ cup mozzarella cheese, grated
Instructions:
- Brown beef and onion lightly in large greased saucepan.
- Add tomato sauce and seasonings, bring to boil, cover and simmer about 20 minutes.
- Slice potatoes, about ¼ inch thick and arrange half in greased 2-quart casserole.
- Cover with meat mixture, then top with remaining potato slices.
- Beat eggs and milk and pour over mixture.
- Sprinkle with cheese and bake in preheated moderate oven 350 degrees about 45 minutes.
- Let stand 15 minutes before serving.
