Ingredients:

  • ½ cup firmly packed brown sugar

  • 1 tablespoon and 1 teaspoon of flour

  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard

  • 1 cup of evaporated milk

  • 1 tablespoon vinegar

  • 2 cans (16 oz. each) pork and beans

  • 6 hot dogs

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees

  2. Mix brown sugar, flour, and mustard in a 2-quart baking dish or casserole.

  3. Measure vinegar; pour into a 1-cup measure.

  4. Stirring constantly, add evaporated milk slowly to vinegar until the 1-cup is reached.

  5. Stir the vinegar-milk mixture into the dry ingredients, mixing well.

  6. Cut hot dogs into sections.

  7. Add the beans and hot dogs to the milk mixture. Mix well but carefully so as to not mash beans.

  8. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until beans are bubbly and beginning to brown.

Makes 4 to 6 servings
