1 cup flour

2 tsp. baking powder

1/4 tsp. salt

1/4 tsp. cream of tartar

2 tsp. sugar

1/4 cup shortening

1/3 cup milk




  1. Sift together flour, baking powder, salt, cream of tartar and sugar.
  2. Using pastry blender, cut together shortening.
  3. Add milk.
  4. Knead dough together 10 strokes.
  5. Pat dough to about 1/2-inch thickness.
  6. Dip biscuit cutter in flour.
  7. Place cutter at edge of dough and press straight down.
  8. Place on greased baking pan.
  9. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes.


Makes about 6 biscuits.
