Job banks typically consist of one or two types of information:
- Resume services (where candidates post information about themselves for
future employers)
- Posting service (where organizations looking for staff to fill vacancies
post information).
Several venues for agencies with vacancies already exist. A partial list
of these resources are listed below.

- AER Job Exchange (VI-specific information)

AER Job Exchange is a monthly publication of the latest job openings in the
field of providing services to blind and visually impaired children and adults
throughout the United States, Canada, and internationally. It is available
free to AER members only, on a six-month subscription basis.
Employers wanting to post a vacancy may do so by placing an advertisement
in this publication for $30 per month. More information is available at the
above website.
- CEC Career Connections (Special education-specific information)

This section of the Council for Exceptional Children's website includes a
searchable listing of job vacancies and a database of resumes submitted by
special educators. It is possible to search by area of expertise and geographical
region and other categories. There is a small fee for these services. The
fee varies based on the service desired and membership in CEC.
- The National Information Clearinghouse on Children who are Deafblind
(DB-Link) (Deafblind positions)

DB-Link provides a listing of deafblind-related positions as a public service.
- SpEdEx - Special Education Job Exchange or SpEdEx (VI-specific)
http://www.spedex.com/jobs/jobs.htm
SpEdEx provides a free listing of vacancies around the country. Although
not specifically limited to areas related to visual impairments, a majority
of the listings are related to visual impairments.
- AER Listserv:
This is the largest listserv dedicated to all areas of visual impairments,
with an emphasis on educational issues. Parents, and VI professionals in
many capacities subscribe to this listserv.

- O&M Listserv
This is the largest listserv dedicated to orientation and mobility specialists.
O&M specialists are the largest groups on this this listserv. If you

- VI programs at each Education Service Center in Texas

VI and O&M consultants at each regional education service center in Texas
usually have information about vacancies in that region. They may also have
information about those students who are currently in training to become
a VI professional.
- Universities with vision programs
http://www.tsbvi.edu/pds/universities.htm
Universities typically have some type of job locator service for their graduates.
Additionally, VI programs usually have a place where job vacancies are posted.
You will find a listing of universities with vision-related programs at the
above address.
- For information about training opportunities, requirements, and deadlines
contact the VI Professional Preparation programs at Texas Tech University,
Stephen F. Austin State University, and/or Educator Preparation and Certification
Program.
