CHB - PURCHASING AND ACQUISITION: PETTY CASH ACCOUNT

ESTABLISHING AND MAINTAINING PETTY CASH FUND

The Superintendent shall establish an imprest petty cash fund not to exceed $5,000 out of funds appropriated by the General Appropriations Act.

Petty cash funds may be maintained in cash and at a local bank.

USE OF PETTY CASH FUNDS

Petty cash funds may be used only for:

  1. Making emergency payments;
  2. Making small purchases and payments which will increase the efficiency of the operation.
  3. Making payments to client workers; and
  4. Use as a change fund in the cashier's office, canteen, and other specific locations where financial activities of the School require a change fund.

LIMIT ON EXPENDITURES

Purchases and payments from this fund may not exceed $200 per item provided, however, the Superintendent may limit individual transactions to lesser amounts.

PROCEDURES

The Superintendent shall ensure that procedures are developed to implement this policy.
