Cleaning A Refrigerator/Freezer

Freezer:

Refrigerator Door:

  1. Thoroughly clean the refrigerator door with water starting at the top shelf (being sure to clean the butter and cheese storage areas thoroughly). Clean with a horizontal then a vertical motion to avoid missing spots. Check tactually. Rinse your cloth frequently. Dry flat surfaces.
  2. Be sure to clean rubber gasket around the inside of the refrigerator door (all around the door).

NOTE: After cleaning each shelf wipe off the bottom of the articles from that shelf before putting them back.

Shelves:

  1. Move the ½ articles on the top shelf of the refrigerator to one side or to a different shelf. Clean the top and walls of the empty half, and then wipe the shelf. Check for spoiled or out-dated foods. Discard it if found. Replace food to clean section of shelf. Clean other side of shelf.
  2. Rinse the dishcloth.
  3. Repeat steps 8 and 9 for the rest of the shelves.
  4. Take the crisper drawers out. Check the condition of the fresh produce. If bad throw it out. Clean the drawers in the sink with dishwater or spray nozzle.
  5. In the refrigerator, clean the space under the drawer area.
  6. Line the drawers with paper towels (if desired), replace vegetables, and put back in the refrigerator.
  7. Clean the top of the refrigerator with glass or all-purpose cleaner, being sure to remove all of the greasy film. Clean the rest of the outside and dry.

NOTE: Special care should be given to cleaning in and around the door handle and the hinges. On kitchen appliances use dishcloths, dishtowels, or paper towels – don’t use the general cleaning cloths in the kitchen areas.
