Primary Objective: It is the primary duty of COSB members to provide the highest quality programs and service to blind and visually impaired children, and provide leadership and direction in the continued improvements of these services.
Be independent and impartial in the exercise of our duties, avoiding actions that create even the appearance of using our positions for personal gain or private benefit.
Strengthen public confidence in the integrity of special schools and services they provide to blind and visually impaired children by demonstrating the highest standards of personal and corporate integrity, fairness, honesty, and compliance with both the spirit and the letter of the law.
Create a work environment that is free from all forms of discrimination and/or harassment and promotes one that is built on respect and dignity for all.
Manage human and fiscal resources in a manner which promotes the improvement of programs and services to blind and visually impaired children both now and in the future.
Conduct public business as openly as possible and consistent with existing law to the fullest extent possible.
Provide public accountability to our boards, consumers, employees and the general public.
Serve the public with respect, concern, courtesy and responsiveness, recognizing that service to the public is our primary mission.
Promote an environment of public trust free from fraud, abuse of authority, and misuse of resources.
Protect the integrity of the decision making process by recognizing and avoiding conflicts between public duties and private interests or activities.
Respect the rights and opinions of others in helping to build stronger comprehensive services for blind and visually impaired children.
